PAID CONTENT FOR PARK HOTEL VITZNAU

Park Hotel Vitznau VITZNAU, SWITZERLAND

The early 20th-century walls of Park Hotel Vitznau enclose a place steeped in tranquillity, indulgence and culture. On the Riviera of Lake Lucerne, guests can experience understated luxury, warm hospitality and scenery they won’t be able to get enough of

SUMPTUOUS ACCOMMODATION This five-star deluxe hotel is an exclusive guest house of privacy, exclusivity and discretion that centres on the guest experience at every turn. Each of the 48 stylish suites — as well as the corridors on each floor, which are designed like galleries — highlight aspects of different themes: ‘Wine & Dine’, ‘Art & Culture’ and ‘Health & Wealth’. Be it plush, baroque or minimalist, every

suite at the Park Hotel Vitznau is one of a kind, equipped with innovative technolog and supreme comfort. No two floorplans or furnishing concepts are the same. All materials and colours — from the high-quality natural stone in the bathroom to the finest bed linen — have been carefully selected to suit the relevant theme and speak to a dedication to creating a unique experience for each guest. The Bordeaux suite, in elegant shades of red,

for example, is dedicated to French viticulture. The Theater in der Josefstadt suite references

the cultural institution. Those staying in the Newton suite, where Sir Isaac looks out from the pictures on the walls, meanwhile, will learn more about the great man, including his losses in the stock market. As to be expected, the medical suites are

equipped for medical needs and are part of the Cereneo Center for Neurolog and Rehabilitation, a service partner located at the hotel. When the suites aren’t occupied, their special glass doors allow the furnishings to remain visible and, as in a gallery, a display case accompanied by text explains the relevant history portrayed in the interior design.

AWARD-WINNING DINING Boasting two Michelin-starred restaurants and a lakeside terrace with a grill, Park Hotel Vitznau is high on the list of places of interest for those who want to experience the finest Swiss gastronomy. Pulling the strings behind the scenes is Christian Nickel, the executive

chef who’s been influencing the hotel’s culinary offerings since 2012 and ensuring that things run smoothly in the kitchen. It’s important to him that the hotel’s staff and apprentices are given the opportunity to implement new ideas and further their personal development. The team also includes distinguished chefs Patrick Mahler and Philipp Heid. Vitznau’s wine cellar is one of the most

impressive in the world, containing 32,000 bottles of the finest vintages. In line with the philosophy of ‘keeping the past alive while shaping the future’, four centuries of wine history are represented here. The bottles are kept in six storage rooms, which are set to a temperature of 14C and humidity of 70%, and looked after by Bilanz magazine’s Sommelier of the Year 2021, Sven Uzat. The centrepiece of the collection is the France cellar: its cast cement racks accommodate one of the largest Bordeaux selections in Europe, as well as the finest vintage variants from Burgundy, the Rhône region and Alsace.
