People can change the way they react to stress, though. They need to accept that they cannot change the situation they are in but can change the way they react to it. They need to ask themselves if it really matters that they are stuck in traffic and will arrive home fifteen minutes later than they planned. And they need to think more about how their reactions affect other people and if it is worth losing the respect of other people for no reason.
Doctors suggest several techniques that help angry people to remain calm and not lose control. Doing exercise is an excellent way to relieve stress and generally puts people in a good mood. Taking a deep breath and counting to ten helps people to calm down and gives them time to think clearly about the situation they are in and how they should react to it. Some doctors say that writing down your feelings on a piece of paper when you are very angry is a good idea. It is a way of getting the anger out and is much better than losing control and shouting at people.
