• If you are able to access a specialist statistics software package, try to analyze a bank of related multiple-choice questions using factor analysis. This process enables a more scientific identification of which sub-items actually group to form factors or constructs and which items did not group as you might have expected.
• If you are able to undertake a factor analysis and you do identify some items which don’t seem to measure the target construct as you
intended, are you able to identify why and to rephrase the question for future, more effective use?
