service, delayed deliveries and impacted customers – we would love to show them how we are different in the market. We look forward to welcoming retailers to gain inspiration for how they can expand their showroom offering and add more value to their customers.

Q: What do these new innovations offer independent retailers? A: In terms of product design and innovation, we want our retailers to be able to be the most creative they can be. Fulfilling every desire of their customers.

Inspire by design

Stuart Dance, director of InHouse Inspired Room Design, a subsidiary of Schüller in the UK, outlines the brand’s focus at next month’s kbb Birmingham show and what its new product developments can do for independent retailers

Q & A

Q: What’s Schüller’s focus for 2024 and beyond? A: Independent kitchen retailers used to see themselves as primarily kitchen specialists. This thinking is shifting, and it is an enormous opportunity for retailers who want to expand their businesses. Retailers can use their design expertise to advise homeowners on different aspects of their interior decoration and design. This started with pantries and utility rooms as obvious extensions to the kitchen. Now retailers can develop dining areas, living and hallway furniture and Schüller and next125 are at the forefront of this development.

Q: What has Schüller been doing to support its retailers through the challenges of the past few years? A: There is no doubt that we’ve experienced a tough and challenging few years. We had the bounce back from Covid with people investing in their homes, which stood us in good stead. However, the disruption from that, and Brexit, was then followed by cost-of-living crisis, which has impacted consumer confidence. We know that consumer confidence is also hit by poor communication and unreliable service, and this directly impacts retail sales. This is particularly important in kitchen sales, as there’s disruption to a person’s home and the coor- dination of multiple trades. We’ve always worked closely with our retailers, and it has been especially important throughout this

period. One of the key things is the

transparency in Schüller’s systems and ordering processes. Retailers know exactly where their orders are and, because Schüller has control over every element, they are confident in both confirming exactly when and where kitchens will be delivered, and that the kitchen will be of great quality.

Q: What’s on the agenda for Schüller at next month’s kbb Birmingham show? A: Innovation! That’s what we want to show retailers for both Schüller and next125. Importantly, this is both about product but also about service, where we will be showcasing how we place customer service – from design through to delivery – right at the heart of our offering. And when retailers are tired of dealing with poor

As well as focusing on the design of our ranges, we’ve also introduced a new sustainability range, Matera (pictured left), as we know this is increasingly important.

The new Matera and Matera Colour fronts are made from particle board featuring direct coating. They consist of 89% renewable primary materials and 71% wood from the circular economy and are 100% recyclable. The new fronts have a matt surface that’s easy to maintain thanks to its anti-fingerprint properties – available in six new colours. Interior fittings from OrganiQ are made from 78% CO2-absorbing natural fibres hemp and kenaf, which grow back quickly. OceanIX handles and unit carcasses made from recycled plastic come in pebble grey. This creates a colour consistency purely through environmentally-friendly products.

Q: What other USPs does the Schüller proposition offer independent retailers? A: Innovation and refinement. We say that Schüller is where function and form intertwine. There is constant refinement of products as well as introduction of new products. Schüller will showcase new lines in the Avola, Newport, SmartGlas and Fino ranges as well as Schüller’s new sustainable range – Matera. Retailers who are keen to see developments in the next125 range should head to the Milan Furniture Fair in April, where new concepts will be exclusively revealed. Retailers will gain inspiration from eye-catching and exciting products such as Schüller’s new multifunctional breakfast unit, tall glass cabinets, OrganiQ cutlery inserts, next125 Bar unit and cooking table. Schüller also listens to feedback from its retailers and consumers. So, alongside these main ranges, retailers can expect to see some key living elements introduced into Schüller’s 2024 collection. The multifunctional breakfast unit, for example, meets the needs of today’s consumer where everything can be easily at hand. The living room storage units will be shown in a variety of styles, and there will be new colours and lighting options that respond to the 2024 trend of keeping everything light and airy.
