‘Smart’ interoperable nurse call systems
Static Systems Group (SSG) is a specialist in patient and staff communication, critical alarm notification solutions – including fire alarms, and medical supply units.
Attending both online and in person at Healthcare Estates 2021, it will showcase its ‘market-leading’ Fusion
Healthcare Platform, alongside its Ultima and Aspire SmartSync nurse call systems. It said: “Thanks to the interoperability of SSG’s systems, they readily meet the requirements of the NHS Digital Strategy and Modern Methods of Construction. With its industry standard open architecture, the Fusion Platform seamlessly integrates nurse call – including third-party products – with medical systems, sensor technologies, and best-in-class smart devices tailored to individual hospitals’ preferred ways of
working. This creates a patient-centric environment with more time to care, and a more supportive workplace experience for care and engineering teams. It also significantly enhances hospitals’ day-to-day running through improved resource use and lower whole-life costs.
“With the majority of UK acute hospitals having chosen SSG as their nurse call provider, we have always ensured that any new features are compatible with existing product ranges.”
SSG’s sales team will be available to discuss how the latest features can be integrated into existing installations. Supported by its site-services teams, SSG claims ‘unrivalled experience’ of working on ‘live’ systems, and providing maintenance support.

Bespoke joinery and doorsets created with care
For many years, the team at joinery and doorstep specialist, STJ Projects, has worked with NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers to provide bespoke products, playing a key part throughout the entire process – from initial discussions and scoping, to design, manufacture, installation, aftercare, and maintenance.
The company said: “Healthcare is very important to the STJ family, and it is thus of little surprise that we have recently been working very closely with an established architect to capture so many different and varying points raised by individuals within key roles in dementia care. This result is the joint design and launch of a Dementia Concept Bedroom Doorset & En-Suite Doorset range, which will be on show at this year’s Healthcare Estates Exhibition.”
Lee Cranidge, STJ Projects’ Commercial manager, said: “So much has been taken into consideration throughout the planning phases of this joint venture to ensure that key elements are given the correct care and inclusion – to provide a relaxed, comfortable, and user-friendly experience to the residents who will be using these products daily. Discreet functions, such as anti-barricade, have all been designed to ensure that the doorsets remain pleasing to the eye, yet still meet the safety requirements to ensure resident and staff safety at all times.”
