Armitage Shanks in ‘battle for better infection control’

Armitage Shanks, ‘the expert provider of washroom solutions for healthcare environments’, is returning to Healthcare Estates to showcase its ‘innovative infection control ranges’ on stand F44. Throughout the pandemic, it has supported the healthcare sector, ‘providing insight-driven washroom products that have helped control the spread of waterborne infections’. The 200-year-old brand will be promoting its ‘innovative brassware and ceramics solutions’, Markwik 21+ and Contour 21+, both ‘firm favourites’ among clinical specifiers.

Armitage Shanks said: “The Contour 21+ anti-splash basin – the result of years of research – has a unique fin which reduces

splashing by up to 90% compared with a traditional basin. It also comes with SmartGuard+, our antimicrobial glaze, offering built- in antibacterial protection. Containing ionic silver, the glaze is proven to inhibit bacterial growth.”

The Markwik 21+ panel- mounted thermostatic mixer offers ‘the same high level of protection’ against bacteria build-up. Its small bore antimicrobial pipes are designed to minimise ‘deadleg’ areas of warm water, and increase water force to reduce biofilm build-up. The range can be fully dismantled for disinfection, with components designed to withstand high cleaning temperatures and autoclaving.

‘Environmentally-friendly’ macerator

DDC Dolphin says its Pulpmatic Eco+ is ‘the most environmentally-friendly, economical, and hygienic macerator on the market’.

It said: “With enhanced chemical dosing, powerful antimicrobial surfaces, and fully contactless operation, you can be certain that this sluice machine will prevent the spread of infection in your facility.”

The lid and front panel incorporate

MicrobeSafe+ surfaces, with advanced antimicrobial and antifungal additives, while the ‘easy access’ hand sensor is at the front of the machine.

The Eco+’s digital screen provides animated operation instructions, cycle status information, and fault resolution guidance. Also featured is the ‘unique’ Click & Fit chemical dosing system – an easy-load chemical cartridge system with two options of a deodoriser or disinfectant ‘for improved antimicrobial kill rate efficacy’.

DDC Dolphin added: “The Pulpmatic Eco+ is perfectly suited to medium capacity wards or care homes. Its advanced five-blade macerator disc provides rapid, low-noise, finer maceration, reducing the risk of blockages, while processing up to four pulp items per cycle from just 85 seconds.”

Building for ‘smart’ digital hospitals Ascom's 'next generation'

Ascom will showcase ‘smart technology for closing digital information gaps, improving decisions, and anytime/ anywhere point of care, with solutions supporting the New Hospital Programme’.

The company said: “Central to the future smart, connected hospital is our nurse call system, co-designed by nurses with Ascom, and integrated with Myco 3 smartphones, to connect them to patients, colleagues, and other technology hospital-wide.”

Telligence ‘smart’ nurse call system integrates with existing clinical communications to support COVID-19 wards. It offers ‘traditional HTM 08-03 compliance, and a future digital platform for hospitals’.

Key features include:

n Two-way speech, including speech to mobility devices.

n ‘Low maintenance’ magnetic break-away patient handsets.

Comfort cooling for patients and staff

Keeping patients and employees cool in hospitals and other healthcare facilities as temperatures rise outside is essential to recuperation and a comfortable care environment, and, with flexible and complete packages – from single units to ‘multi-megawatt’ HVAC applications – ICS Cool Energy says it has the equipment, technical expertise, and experience, to help with this in any situation, from emergency plant equipment failure to long-term replacements.

The company said: “Our chillers are suitable for all healthcare sector requirements. From MRI machines, PET scanners, and pharmacies, to essential HVAC cooling for wards, theatres, and more – we provide equipment that delivers the level of precision required in these critical areas – with in-built redundancies to ensure no loss of service.”

When hospital boilers fail, it vital that they are running again fast. ICS Cool Energy can provide boilers of up to 2 MW capacity, and remote fuel management for all domestic hot water and heating needs. It also offers air purification solutions with a range of medical grade air purifiers, with air flow rates from 380-1500 m3

/hour.

It said: “The AirXPro multi-fan design air purifiers remove 99.6% of airborne bacteria, viruses, and pollutants, and have a PM 2.5 removal rate of 99.87% (30 m2

) operating for one hour.”

n ‘Easily upgradable workflow scenarios ‘from day one’. A system programmable to operate any one of the 9 individual coloured LEDs within the overdoor lights. n Self-maintainable

peripherals, with easy device swap-out by site maintenance teams via RJ45 plugs and simple dip switches.

n Part of the Ascom modular healthcare platform, offering open API and integration into medical devices and electronic patient record systems.
