Agrimer takes wraps off marine anti-ageing active ingredient
French cosmetic active maker Agrimer has unveiled AlgaAge, an anti-ageing ingredient extracted from a brown seaweed harvested in Brittany. The seaweed, Phyllacantha
fibrosa, was selected for its high phlorotannins and mannitol, two compounds known for their anti- ageing and protective properties. Developed after five years of
research, AlgaAge is derived from a patented biorefinery process, enabling optimal extraction of target molecules while preserving marine resources. AlgaAge has been designed as a global anti-ageing solution, targeting
the five main dimensions of skin ageing: appearance of wrinkles, loss of firmness, loss of elasticity, increased roughness, uneven skin tone.
The performance of AlgaAge has been validated through in vitro tests
and an in vivo clinical study. In vitro results saw a 20% increase
in collagen lattice contraction; a 14% reduction in melanin synthesis; a 159% increase in hyaluronic acid synthesis; and an 81% increase in collagen synthesis
Naolys tackles inflammaging with hibiscus active , a biotech
Naolys has launched Firm Perfection (Hibiscus)2
cosmetic active ingredient designed for high-end skin care formulations that go beyond temporary lifting effects. The ingredient tackles inflammaging, the invisible ageing process that progressively disrupts cellular communication, weakens the glycocalyx, and triggers inflammatory
mechanisms such as pyroptosis. Firm Perfection (Hibiscus)2
is the first integrated biological solution to address these four key pillars: modulating chronic inflammation; restoring cellular dialogue; rebalancing pathways for harmonious regeneration; and stimulating tissue repair (collagen and extracellular matrix). Backed by in vitro and clinical evaluations versus placebo,
In vivo results (56 days versus
placebo) saw a 11.3% reduction in crow’s feet wrinkle depth; a 4.1% improvement in skin elasticity; and a 22.6% reduction in spot visibility. AlgaAge is 100% natural origin,
vegan compatible and preservative- free, while an eco-responsible process limits marine resource harvesting. “Derived from a sustainable
biorefinery approach, this active ingredient is part of a full marine biomass valorization strategy, combining scientific innovation with environmental respect,” said a spokeswoman.

the results demonstrate a 52% reduction in skin amplitude, translating into visibly firmer skin with restored structural organisation. 100% plant-based, non-GMO, and clean beauty- compatible. The ingredient uses Naolys’
proprietary Sister Cells technology that harnesses a controlled cellular ecosystem. Two carefully selected hibiscus
species are co-cultured in the same bioreactor, generating a phytochemical synergy that enhances their biological activity. “Available in four galenic
forms, this technology provides formulators with uncompromising creative freedom, offering clinically proven results, impeccable naturality, and a scientific story as compelling as the results,” said a spokeswoman.
