Welcome to the July 2024 edition of Personal Care Global magazine. As is customary with
our July issues, this edition includes a Korean language section to coincide with the in-cosmetics Korea trade show that takes place
in Seoul on 24-26 July. The section includes five Korean language
technical articles written by companies including Laboratoires Eriger, Vytrus Biotech, Rahn, Swedish Algae Factory and Agrimer. In addition, there is a fascinating interview (in
English) with K-Beauty expert Jayanne Jin, who shares her considerable insight into local trends. Some of the Personal Care team will be
attending in-cosmetics Korea – our marvellous business manager Chris Vincent and publisher Geoff King. If you are visiting the Seoul trade show, please
stop to say hi to our dynamic duo at stand E118. Speaking of our sales team, I am delighted to
tell you we have a new addition: Kelly McCann. Kelly joins us with a wealth of media sales
experience and she will help us continue to develop the magazine over the years to come. Elsewhere in this issue, we carry a number of
articles authored by some of the newest kids on the personal care ingredients block. These include Roka Furadada of Spain
(established 2019), which has developed a dormant active ingredient that ‘awakes’ with UVB radiation to become a potent UVA absorber (see page 31). Another newbie featured in this issue is US
startup Ruby Bio (established 2022), which is pioneering a novel platform for biosurfactants that are also tunable (see page 26). Tunability, says the California outfit, enables
the production of a wide range of surfactant variants and derivatives that closely resemble the core structure of legacy surfactants, with functionality that delivers equivalent or better performance. Finally, Seqens Personal Care of France
(established 2022) explains how environmentally sensitive skin and its effects can be reduced by a cosmetic solution containing ingredients like its botanical extract Sens’Flower (Crocus sativus flower extract) (see page 37). Enjoy the magazine.
