Active Concepts offers salvation from salicylic acid

Active Concepts has launched ACB Sal-Vation, a sustainably derived skin care active marketed as an alternative to salicylic acid. The company says it has seen an opportunity

to “resolve the global unrest over salicylic acid” by developing an efficacious active harnessing benzoic acid naturally found in prunes, and succinic acid in sugar beet. Benzoic acid shares some similarities with salicylic acid in its lipophilic nature, allowing it to remove intercellular lipids for successful exfoliation. However, it also possesses distinctive properties

such antimicrobial and antifungal benefits, making it particularly effective in combating acne and other skin infections. Succinic acid’s popularity is emerging in the

personal care space because, unlike salicylic acid that primarily focuses on exfoliation, its anti-inflammatory properties make it suitable for sensitive skin types and is known to promote collagen synthesis. This combination of organic acids sustainably

derived from farm-level sourced sugar beets and prunes provides formulators and skin care enthusiasts an expansion of options and the ability to tailor

plant water range Lipoid Kosmetik has taken the wraps off the Herbasol Plant Water product range, a selection of plant waters optimized for cosmetic use. Plant waters, also known as hydrolates,

are produced through a process called steam distillation.

This method extracts the water-soluble

compounds from the plant material, resulting in a condensed liquid encapsulating its pure essence. The Swiss maker says the product line embodies the full power of plant ingredients (100% natural, high proportion of plant component, short INCI), and combines that with a transparent, odourless appearance that is easy to incorporate in a variety of cosmetic formulations. treatments for individual needs, says Active Concepts. Partnering with a family-owned farm

in Northern Ohio, Active Concepts’ sugar beets come from a supplier that prioritizes regenerative farming; the director curates employee-specific regenerative-grown vegetable boxes in an effort to support healthier lifestyles. Meanwhile, the prunes are sourced from a

family-owned farm in California that has been around since 1916. Practicing organic farming before ‘organic’ was a household term, this farm also sponsors local

educational scholarships aimed at empowering young people in the agricultural field. ACB Sal-Vation achieves optimal results

while minimizing the hassle that comes with regulations and potential skin irritant side effects.
