DraftKings has announced the release of financial results for year ended December 31, 2019. In a statement Jason Robins, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of DraftKing said it had been “a transformative year for the company.”


In a major development in the U.S. betting rights landscape IMG ARENA has secured the rights to provide U.S. sports betting operators with live streams of select out-of-market National Hockey League (NHL) games via the operators’ digital betting platforms available in legalised markets.

MGM Resorts has announced a number of new sports betting experiences across its Las Vegas properties as well as the launch of BetMGM in Nevada. In partnership with Roar Digital, LLC – MGM Resorts' joint venture with GVC Holdings – the launch of BetMGM in Nevada includes a state- of-the-art mobile betting app, the rebranding of MGM Resort's sportsbooks, and more than 100 gaming kiosks across MGM's Las Vegas properties.

William Hill and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, a federally recognised Indian tribe, have announced a long- term partnership. William Hill will be the exclusive provider of online sports betting and online casino gaming throughout Michigan, with plans to open a retail William Hill Sports Book at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel this year, pending regulatory approvals. Te agreement follows the signing of legislation in December 2019 legalising both sports betting and online gaming in the state.


Te William Hill Sports Book will be located in the current Onyx Sports Bar at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, with a satellite location at Leelanau Sands Casino. Both are expected to open prior to the 2020 football season, pending regulatory approvals. William Hill plans to launch Online Casino Gaming and Online Sports Betting when permitted under Michigan regulations.

Robins highlighted the launch of products in six new states and combination with Diamond Eagle and SBTech to become a public company. Te first fantasy sports licences have been issued in Ohio. Fantasy sports operators FanDuel, DraftKings, Yahoo Fantasy Sports, StatHero and Fantasy Golf’s OG have all been granted permission to operate by Te Ohio Casino Control Commission.


In 2018, Ohio passed House Bill 132 a law that gave regulatory oversight of fantasy sports gaming to the commission. Trough the Act, the General Assembly expressly defined fantasy contests and exempted those contests from the criminal gambling prohibitions.


Te Act also granted the Commission jurisdiction over all those involved with fantasy contests, including the ability to license, regulate, investigate, and penalise operators. Te law also provides several important consumer protection measures. A number of other operators are expected to be granted a licence soon.


Progress is being made in New Jersey on an esports betting bill. Legislation that will give esports betting the green light has passed an Assembly committee via a unanimous decision. A637 was approved by all seven members of the Assembly Tourism, Gaming & the Arts Committee meaning that it will now go before the Speaker for consideration. Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling said that it would provide a boost to state coffers.


“It’s important for our state to capitalise on this rapidly growing industry in order to both give our residents what they want and boost our economy. With online sports betting now legal in New Jersey and a large number of people already interested in this type of gaming, the time is right for us to expand legal wagering beyond traditional sports.”
