Page 77 Ersa to Display Soldering in Virtual Demos

ROSEMONT, IL — Kurtz Ersa, Inc., has upgraded its demo/application centers to interactive digital showrooms in preparation for IPC APEX 2021 virtual. The team will give customers in-depth and personalized equip- ment demonstrations for wave, reflow and selective soldering, rework equipment, i4.0 connectivity, and more. The company will highlight the EXOS 10/26, Ersa VERSAEYE and HR 600 XL during the virtual event. Ersa’s EXOS 10/26 is a convection reflow soldering system with 22 heating and four cooling zones, as well as a vacuum chamber after the peak zone, to remove voids in the solder contact areas between the component and PCB surface. In addition to its process reliability, the system is designed to provide ease of maintenance.

The Ersa VERSAEYE mod- ule enables documentation of sol- der joint quality on the basis of

HEIDENHAIN Introduces RCN Angle Encoders

SCHAUMBURG, IL — HEIDEN- HAIN has introduced smarter and faster versions of its RCN absolute angle encoder series for use in machine tools that require high speed, accuracy and con- tamination resistance.

The new models, RCN 2001, 5001 and 8001, have fast rotat- ing axes and direct-drive motors that offer speeds up to three times higher than older estab- lished RCN encoders.

When paired with an EIB 5211 sensor box, these new RCN encoders will transfer the tem- perature of the encoder and a direct-drive motor to the control in use. This gives the user the ability to push the system to its thermal load limits.

individual quality requirements. Incorpor- ating it into Ersa’s VERSAFLOW selective soldering systems, the VERSAEYE is opti- mized for the inspection of THT solder joints. Through the use of up to nine cameras it can detect different wetting problems, solder bridges, solder balls, or missing pins.

With the Ersa HR 600 XL it is possible to professionally rework BTC components on large board assemblies. Its heated area of 24 x 24 in. (610 x 610 mm) and ability to handle PCB thicknesses of up to 0.4 in. (10 mm) opens up rework capabilities for telecommunica- tions, network and infrastructure. The high- precision repair process is excellent for desol- dering, placement and soldering of all types of surface mounted devices, including BGA, metallic BGA, CGA, BGA socket, QFP, PLCC, and MLF.

The scanning performance of the new RCN has also been optimized so that any liquid con- tamination or condensation that enters the encoder will not affect operation of this encoder. With these recent improve- ments, they are suitable for aero- space, medical and turning appli- cations, which typically require highly accurate positioning and high speeds. They are available with EnDat22 (FS), EnDat02, Fanuc05, and Mit03-4 interfaces. Contact: HEIDENHAIN Corp., 333 E. State Parkway, Schaumburg, IL 60173  847-519-4856

T100 is the first ever flying actuator optomechatronics tester in the world, able to perform calibration, test, inspection and flashing of any kind of product with electronic, optical and mechanical functions.

The system operation is completely automatic, from product handling to test performance and result analysis. The tester can operate as a stand-alone unit, or it can be equipped with automatic product loaders/unloaders, so to reach a non-stop operation for days.

Moreover, T100 is fully configurable with a wide range of tools and instruments, can be reprogrammed and used to test different products.

Consumer Industry

Among the many applications: HMI panels, touch displays, keyboards, LEDs, MEMS sensors, microelectronic and microoptic modules, sound-emitting devices.
