water and only half as much energy and detergent as conventional aqueous machines. Yet, our systems produce superior cleaning, demand less overall time, and in addition, their gentler action and lower temperatures provide better fabric care so clothes remain looking new for longer. Users don’t have to separate most colours, as the beads absorb stray dyes, but they also act as a buffer, preventing excessive folding of clothes and lessening the possibility of them creasing. With our system, customers have found that their clothes smell fresher and shirts are easier to fi nish, with less touching up required.
As word spreads, Xeros’ solution is increasingly in demand, and our commercial laundry system delivers superior cleaning results for industrial laundries, hotels, fi tness centres, and dry cleaners. Existing partners include national laundering provider Johnsons Services Group; premium dry cleaners Jeeves of Belgravia; international washroom hygiene, mat, workwear and textile solution provider the CWS-boco Group; and several organisations in North America.

energy savings. Managing Director, Ejaz Osmani, said that, compared to conventional laundry machines, he has found average water savings of 68% using the Xeros system, because he can wash garments at much lower temperatures, and therefore less energy is needed. With the Xeros process, water acts as a lubricant only, and as 50% less detergent is used, hardly any needs to be used to rinse fabrics.
Our beads can be used for hundreds of washes without losing their effectiveness, and when their cleaning days are over, they continue to offer environmental benefi ts. The beads can be reused in the polymer supply chain and need never go to landfi ll, which can contribute to the production of greenhouse gases and toxic chemicals, as well as taking up valuable space. Following their use for cleaning, our reusable and recyclable beads are re-utilised in other industries with a demand for polymers, including the motor sector, where they can form injection moulded parts for cars.
If the popularity of our machines spreads way beyond organisations like these, and washing clothes the Xeros way becomes the norm, as we expect it to, what will all the “green” benefi ts add up to? To fi nd out, we commissioned Sustain, one
of the world’s leading sustainability consultancies, to carry out a survey of the possible advantages. They looked at the environmental profi le of the Xeros product over its entire life cycle – from production, through use, to fi nal waste management.
Sustain found some signifi cant results; per machine, the carbon footprint savings equated to over 700kgCO2
eq of greenhouse gas
emissions – equivalent to those caused by operating a 32” LED TV for 32,000 hours, In addition, the organisation found that savings in water depletion of 1.2million litres, or ten years’ of direct water usage by an average UK household.
It is for reasons like these that our work is being increasingly recognised, and we are delighted to be winning a growing handful of awards, most recently across both sides of the Atlantic.
