Scientists, like good mountaineers, know their destination and what it takes to get there: good support, experience, proper training, a little luck, and the right equipment.
As analytical scientists push themselves to reach their next destination, they can count on innovations from Waters.
) platform that revolutionised the industry in 2004, this game-changing UPSFC solution enables scientists to conduct normal- phase chromatographic separations using carbon dioxide as the primary mobile phase rather than toxic solvents. Now scientists can minimise harmful waste while gaining superior separation, resolution, and speed.
Introducing the ACQUITY UPSFCTM System from Waters. Built on Waters UltraPerformance LC®
(UPLC®
The ACQUITY UPSFC System offers the ruggedness and dependability scientists are looking for, with the ease of use they’ve come to expect from liquid chromatography. As an ideal complement to reversed-phase LC this system maximises the benefits of Waters
New SFE/SFR Processing System
Supercritical Fluid Technologies, Inc introduces the SFT-150 Supercritical Fluid Extraction/Reaction System developed to investigate the feasibility of applying supercritical fluid techniques to various analyses and processing situations. Whether it’s repetitive laboratory extractions or process development and optimisation, the SFT-150 provides an excellent introduction to the power and versatility of supercritical fluids extraction/reaction technology.
The SFT-150 System is a fully capable instrument, designed to perform extractions and run reactions in a supercritical fluid media. This introduction to supercritical fluids offers the flexibility and safety features often found only in higher priced extraction systems. The modular design of the SFT-150 makes it easy and cost effective to alter the unit’s basic configuration, adapting it to meet new or evolving application
needs. At the heart of the SFT-150 System is a stainless steel vessel capable of containing supercritical fluids at pressures up to 10,000 psi. The SFT-150 comes standard with a 100ml hand-tight sample vessel and is unique in its ability to accommodate pressure vessels of up to 2 litres capacity.
The SFT-150 System pressurisation is controlled by an air regulator which regulates the amount of air supplied to the pump allowing ‘dial in’ pressure control. A PID temperature controller allows for the control of the fluid temperature in the units vessel. In addition, an optional co-solvent module can be configured into the SFT-150.

Supercritical Fluid Technologies (SFT) introduces a new bench top supercritical fluid extractor (SFE), the model SFT-110. This latest addition to the SFE product line builds upon the strengths of its popular predecessor, the SFT-100. The completely redesigned restrictor valve with integrated micrometer allows for very precise flow control, which is essential for demanding applications. A completely removable oven lid and large side panel allow the user easy access to the high-pressure vessel. An indicator light on the SFT-10 pump module alerts the user to proper operation of the
Peltier pre-cooler, ensuring CO2 is maintained in the liquid state. A robust outlet from the restrictor ensures that users will not accidentally damage the outlet tube when inserting it into the collection container.
Supercritical fluid extraction has become a popular alternative to traditional extraction methods that use organic solvents. Fast, efficient extraction of a variety of materials may be achieved using supercritical carbon dioxide. The SFT-110 SFE is well suited for both research and process development applications. Precise control of temperature, pressure, and flow rate is essential for successful, reproducible extractions. The use of dual sapphire syringe pump technology, integrated pre-heaters, and precise flow control provides the precision required to achieve these goals. Process parameters developed in the laboratory are the key to the successful scale-up to pilot or production scale equipment.

chemistries and informatics to drive a wide range of scientific endeavors - including chiral and achiral applications.
The ACQUITY UPSFC System is a holistically designed system, based on Waters proven ACQUITY UPLC technology. And it opens up entirely new vistas - including different selectivity, improved resolution, and better retention of polar compounds.
The system is fully compatible with Waters industry leading Empower™ and MassLynx™ informatics software, its family of ViridisTM SFC Columns that is specifically designed for this technique, and Waters mass detectors.
For chiral and achiral separations, nothing produces better peak shapes and allows scientists to see and do more than ACQUITY UPSFC. The superior sensitivity and separations capability of ACQUITY UPSFC enables scientists to rapidly confirm the purity of compounds, determine the enantiomeric excess, and increase their range of analytical capability.
Compared to normal phase chromatography, UPSFC offers shorter cycle times, faster re- equilibration, and superior resolution. With higher throughput, this means better results and productivity - saving laboratories time and money. The ACQUITY UPSFC System is based on technology that thousands of laboratories are already familiar with and alleviates difficulties related to unforeseen variables that plague normal-phase experiments. With ACQUITY UPSFC, scientists have greater separation power, selectivity, and speed and the ability to get to where they want to go faster and with greater confidence in their results.
