BHS held its first-ever virtual Bingo Night with current families and alumni in attendance. Alumnus, John Ross’57, hosted the successful event.


Throughout Term 2, a number of BHS student-athletes were invited to speak to Earl Basden on the “Bermuda School Sports Talk Show”. Nisaiah Berkeley ’22, Nell Wightman ’25 and Charlotte Millington ’25 all spoke about their individual sports while Primary students Charlotte Ayliffe ‘29, Lucy Leman ‘29, Avery Taylor ‘29 and Sophia Stier ’29 spoke about their training with the Bascombe Futbol Leadership Academy. Sisters, Nalini ’28 and Angeni ’30 Minors, also took part with some of their St. David’s Warriors teammates.


Mrs Parker brought her Poochon puppy to visit with the EYP students when she read them a poem for “P” week.

IB Biology students learned about the process of COVID testing in Bermuda with Dr Desiree Spriggs of Helix Genetic and Scientific Solutions.


Year 6 students made the most of the new Renaissance Re Creation and Innovation Space to design and create Martian settlements/shelters as part of their ‘Mission to Mars’ IPC unit.


BHS was highlighted in the Member Spotlight of the National Coalition of Girl’s Schools (NCGS). The Spotlight noted: “The recent STEM activities that BHS shared online are quite inspiring for fellow educators in our global network of girls’ schools.” What an amazing endorsement for all that we are doing at BHS.


Year 11 students took advantage of the Food-Safe Lab in the Innovation Centre to practice their cooking skills. As part of their PSHE lesson, they cooked a dish of their choosing as a way to help prepare them for college life.


FEBRUARY BHS celebrated Black History Month with Primary students learning about a new person in history from the book “Little Leaders – Bold Women in Black History” while Head Students, Layla Kurt and Leahnae Morton-Richardson, shared daily Black History Month videos with Secondary students, highlighting those who have played important roles in history.


Staff and students throughout the School embraced the first-ever full school Spirit Day with enthusiasm! House colours were seen all over campus bringing a much needed boost of fun and school spirit.


Year 2 students made different types of vehicles for their IPC Transportation Unit. They had to research their mode of transport, draw a plan to build it, collect the items from home and then create it.


Science Leaders, Bethany Cooze ‘24 and Olivia Porter ‘24, presented a virtual assembly to Year 7-9 students to celebrate the UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science. They highlighted some female pioneers in the field of Science and looked at how women are underrepresented in STEM fields at university and beyond.

BHS was awarded the Graduway Impact Award for Digital Fundraising Success for the December 2020 Giving Week.

The BHS PTA provided a much needed treat to staff in the form of a delicious lunch and a fun raffle! It was a thoughtful and generous gesture which did much to lift staff spirits. Special thanks to Tivin Turchiaro, Rebecca Kuruvilla, Jennifer Johnson-Porter, Sarah Marcotte, and Claire Burnard, and also to Mr and Mrs Amarasinghe for the delicious, home- made cheesecake.


Nine BHS IB students, Tana van den Berg Tejedor ‘22, Salayah Stange ‘22, Madison Smith ‘21, Briyana Fough ‘21, Gen Lau ‘21, Jaime Procter ‘22, Leahnae Morton-Richardson ‘21, Ashlyn Lee ‘21 and Daina Bakeckas ‘21 joined over 1000 other pupils from 28 countries around the world for this year’s UNIS Conference on the global Coronavirus pandemic. This year’s conference was broadcast online from New York.


To celebrate World Book Day, Secondary students dressed up as book characters and Primary students came to school in their pajamas with their favourite book.
