Check with your maternity team before starting to exercise, especially if you weren’t active before. Here are some tips to help you exercise safely:

Always warm up before exercising and cool down afterwards.
Don’t exhaust yourself, and most importantly avoid any vigorous exercise during hot weather.
Drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated.
Give swimming a go, as the water will support your weight.
Avoid activities that could lead to a fall.
People who start smoking when they’re teenagers are more likely to smoke every day as adults and may also find it harder to quit1
