DO YOU NEED MORE VITAMIN D?
Public Health England is recommending that people consider taking vitamin D supplements during the spring and summer months this year.
Usually, most of us only need a supplement during the autumn and winter. But if you’re staying indoors more than usual at the moment, taking a vitamin D pill may be a good idea, since we get most of our vitamin D from sunlight exposure.
NEED A MOOD BOOST? TRY HOBBIES
Taking up a hobby could be just the thing you need if you’re feeling low, say experts writing in the Journal of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics.
Ask your pharmacist to recommend a vitamin D supplement to suit you and your family.
In their study, researchers found people who were actively involved in hobbies were 32% less likely to experience depression. Hobbies, they add, may also help relieve symptoms of depression and increase your chances of recovering from depression.
There are loads of activities you could get involved in, such as making music, drawing, painting and handicrafts such as sewing, jewellery making, carpentry, collecting and model-making.
