Nkuku Expect a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere at the Nkuku Lifestyle Store. Shopping and retail as we know it, has changed and there is a ‘new normal’ in its place. Like many local independent shops, Nkuku has embraced the challenge, carefully following government guidelines - as well as some good old-fashioned common sense - we have implemented a number of safety measures to keep both our customers and staff safe. The Nkuku store benefits from being a stand-alone store, in a large courtyard of barns. There has always been a lot of space for browsing, but we have now added a maximum number of customers at any one time in each of our buildings, as well as signage and guidance - our friendly staff are there to help and advise. We have installed Plexi glass at our checkout desk, set up hand sanitiser stations and increased cleaning throughout the store. For the time being our café will remain closed, as will our lavatory facilities. We look forward to welcoming all our customers safely back. See our advert on page 23
Bayards Cove Inn We’re back, with some exciting changes, offering visitors and residents of Dartmouth even more opportunities to enjoy our delicious, locally sourced food. Takeaways are now a permanent fixture following their huge success during the lockdown with delicious food and drink, including croissants, fish and chips, crab sandwiches, cakes and coffee available from 8am until 4pm. And it’s back to business for the café, restaurant and hotel, with a few tweaks! It’s now table
service for everyone, whether it’s for café food (8am until 3pm), a cream tea (available all day until 5pm) or the restaurant (open until 5pm until 9pm). Bayards In The Garden is new this summer. Stroll over to the Avenue Gardens for a Devon-made pie or pasty, a fresh baguette, or homemade cakes and treats, a coffee or a tea the new pop up stand. For peace of mind, automatic hand sanitisers are placed throughout the hotel, capacity has been reduced, and staff are all fully trained to help keep you safe. Dart Gallery We are thrilled to be back open again. If you have not already visited, you will find us on Lower Street with two floors of beautiful contemporary British art. To help us all keep safe we have made a few changes at the gallery including: – We have revised our layout to provide even more room to socially distance. – We have a sneeze screen at our reception desk. – We are providing hand sanitiser. – We will be regularly sanitising surfaces. – We accept contactless payments. – During opening hours, we will give you the option of having the upstairs gallery entirely to yourself when you visit; just ask and we will make it private for you. – If you have specific paintings you want to see and would like to have the whole gallery to yourself out of hours, ask us to book a time and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Compass Office shop Yes, we are back! We know it’s been a while but while you have been away we have used the time to have a full lockdown makeover! We have been channelling some of the country’s best designers such as Nick Knowles & Chris Whitty and the shop is looking beautiful. Carefully placed distancing stickers and hazmat tape really pull the room together, and the new one-way system adds a calming ‘feng shui’ flow to the proceedings. Complementary hand sanitizer on entry provides some welcoming luxury and the plastic counter screen will make you feel like you are watching us on telly! In keeping with public opinion, Simon will keep his face covered... but that may be nothing to do with safety. In short, we have done all we can to make your visit and safe and stress free as possible. I’m afraid we can only get two in at once at the moment, but hey, if it’s good enough for Noah...
