Whilst looking to deliver a commemoration worthy of the efforts of the Dartmouth Mayflower 400 team and all our supporters, we find ourselves in the position of having to make changes to some of our events for 2020.
To enable us to deliver a safe Mayflower
Week programme for all involved, we have made the decision to move some of our events from September into November 2020.
This will affect our planned performances,
workshops and exhibitions that were due to take place at the Flavel, but we are currently working to develop a safe and entertaining programme for Mayflower Week...take two.. 23rd - 28th November 2020. Details to follow. However, the museum’s Mayflower Exhibition housing the replica scale model is still on target for its new opening date in September.
The other element of our program is our
maritime events and it is with great sadness, we find ourselves unable to deliver our Grand Mayflower Pageant on 30 August and the following week’s river events. With social distancing and gathering restrictions we are no longer able to host our maritime programme as we would have liked.
In place of the planned events we are
looking into a suitable alternative Maritime activity for Dartmouth Mayflower that will carry the legacy of the project beyond 2020. Details will be released when this new element to our programme is finalised.
Whilst this is a situation we never thought
would arise, we are working very hard to fill the gaps left by the changes and hope that the rest of our revised programme will continue to deliver on the successes the team has already achieved to date.
We are delighted to announce that all three of Dartmouth’s Mayflower Heritage Trails are now open!
The Town Trail was opened in November 2019, and we have added the Packhorse and Castle Trails, which all link together.
Leaflets for the three trails, and a children’s Quiz and Activity booklet for the Town Trail, are available to download from our website
www.dartmouthmayflower400.uk/dartmouth-walking-trail/ or they can be picked up from the Dartmouth Visitor Centre. Alternatively, you can download a self-guided App to your smartphone.

Visitors will be able to imagine life in Dartmouth when the Mayflower and Speedwell were moored in the River Dart in 1620, discover the long and rich history of our seafaring town, and enjoy some breath-taking views along the routes.
Look out for our brand new trail map showing the three trail routes, soon to be installed at the Visitor Centre.
