We hate to say the “C” Word but it is actually only about 100 days until Christmas!! So, we thought that we would give you some specific tips to help you to boost your social media to help you to have a successful Christmas period with your business.

Do make sure that all your platforms look their best to encourage engagement. What we mean is to ensure that all your information fields are fully completed with information about your business so that potential customers can contact you as easily as possible. Make sure that your profile image (logo) and cover image (large image at the top of the page) are properly sized for the space and are the same images that you use on your website for a pulled-together brand image.

ON FACEBOOK, post between 1 and 2 times a day of content about both your business (eg promotions, tes- timonials or your Elf on the Shelf!) and also other areas of interest to your target audience. If you are targeting a local audience, then maybe share posts about the town, community events (eg Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas) or complementary businesses or products to yours. Try to involve your audience by asking ques- tions or using polls – people like to be asked for their opinions! Use hashtags sparingly on Facebook and do try out Stories (content that deletes after 24 hours) to show off more informal images and videos of your business. Remember to like, share and comment on

other people’s posts and to reply to your notifications because social media is about being social.

ON INSTAGRAM, post between 1 and 2 times a day of beautiful content that is about your business. Make sure that your individual images and overall grid look as beautiful as possible with properly sized images. Use Stories for more informal content. Do use the 30 hashtags that you are allowed as it helps with the discoverability of your posts. Try #ChristmasCount- Down, #TisTheSeason and #Sea- sonsGreetings. Again, make sure that you also engage with other accounts as well as like, share and comment on other people’s posts.

ON TWITTER, post around 5 times a day with about 30% of posts about your business. Use no more than 2 or 3 hashtags. Engage with Twitter Hours such as #devonhour to amplify your message and use hashtags such

as #ChristmasCountdown or #Christmas2019 in your posts to help them to be found.

In the next edition, we will look at more ways that you can reach and engage with your target audience better on social media.
