In July 2019, the tall ship Providence arrived in Old Town Alexandria and will open as a new permanent attraction in late summer/early fall, offering a one-of- a-kind, on-the-water event space. The Providence is a full-scale replica of one of the U.S. Continental Navy’s first warships, built in 1768. The ship also ap- peared in the international blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean.
The facilities of the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon provide the perfect balance of elegance and historical context, ideal for board meetings, strategic retreats and executive level leadership and management de- velopment with four meeting rooms and a terrace for up to 100 attendees.
The McChrystal Group offers a sleek and modern space for any size event. The facility boasts over 6,000-square feet of open-concept and collaborative meeting spaces in the heart of Old Town Alexandria.
The Garden at Building Momentum in Alexandria is a 4,000-square foot state-of-the art workshop with rustic event space that offers seating for 60, a 16- seat classroom with computers, and a conference room with seating for 10 people.

Also new in 2019, Pedego Electric Bikes now offers guided group tours around Alexandria as well as to Mount Vernon and into Washington, DC. Tours can be customized to meet the needs and desires of the group.
What’sNew
Sage Hospitality recently expanded their DC-area hotel portfolio to include the management contract for The Alexandrian and Morrison House hotels, both part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The Alexandrian features 241 guest rooms, more than 9,000-square feet of meeting space, and the restaurant Jackson 20. Morrison House is an intimate 45-room boutique Federal-style hotel.
In addition, the management company of The Westin Alexandria changed to Interstate Hotel Group.
In April 2018, Kimpton Lorien Hotel and Spa in Old Town completed a $2.51 million redesign to its 107 guest rooms, including 16 suites, to its signature outdoor terraces, public areas, adjacent French brasserie BRABO, and 5,600- square feet of meeting and event space.
Coming in 2020, a historic hotel built in 1926 will be restored to its roots after serving as an office building for decades. The George Mason, operated by Aparium Hotel Group, will be located in the heart of Alexandria’s historic district, and will feature 141 hotel rooms, two restaurants, rooftop and outdoor dining. The hotel also is expected to offer meeting space for over 1,500 guests.
