Times Schools Guide’s Top Independent School Sixth Form in Scotland for IB/A Level results, St Leonards was named Scotland’s Independent School of the Year 2019 by the Sunday Times Schools Guide. Just one hour from Edinburgh, St Leonards is a leading IB school, combining academic excellence with historic surroundings, beautiful sandy beaches, and access to seven Links golf courses. As the first accredited all-through IB school in Scotland, pupils follow the inspiring International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, followed by the Middle Years Programme and then GCSEs, which serve as the ideal preparation for the IB Diploma in the Sixth Form. Thanks to an ambitious £4m refurbishment plan, students live in modern, stylish comfort in a country house setting, where bedrooms have sea views beyond the playing fields.
Phase one of the Ollerenshaw house redevelopment was completed in 2018, creating a smart social heart to the house, and work to transform St Rule is due to commence in summer 2019, resulting in a dedicated prep boarding house with a family feel. Full, flexi and weekly boarding is available from age 10.
St Leonards has a dedicated Golf Programme for players of all abilities, from Junior and Senior School beginners, through Q School to the High-Performance Squad. Golfers at St Leonards receive expert coaching at the state-of-the- art St Andrews Links Academy, where they benefit from the most innovative golfing technology, and are eligible to apply for a coveted Links Ticket. With more than 35 co-curricular activities on offer, plus sports, and well-established links with the University of St Andrews, students have countless opportunities to develop new and existing interests, wherever they may lie.
