The Scottish Government offer optional free learning and childcare, referred to as ‘pre-school education’ to all three and four year olds.

How many hours? 600 free hours a year (16 hours a week - term times). In 2020 this will increase to 1,140 hours per year (30 hours a week - term times) and is likely to include a free lunch.

Where?

At Council run nurseries, often attached to a Primary School or with ‘Partnered Providers’ such as private nurseries, playgroups and childminders.
