Loretto School A HOME TO NURTURE THEIR TALENT
Founded in 1827, Loretto is Scotland’s first boarding school. Today, it welcomes just over 600 boarders and day pupils, girls and boys, aged 0 to 18. The school is set in a safe,
leafy, spacious, 85 acre campus in Musselburgh, East Lothian, and enjoys all the advantages of a rural setting. Loretto is ranked in the top 7% of schools nationally at A-Level,
and 97% of pupils enter the University of their choice, such as Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews, and Durham. Loretto is a small school that strives to know every pupil personally, and offer them the opportunity to grow, wherever their interests lie. It emphases on development of the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.
The school offers a wide range of curricular and extra- curricular activities including comprehensive programmes in Sport and Creative Arts, using its extensive on-campus facilities. Loretto also features an industry-leading Golf Academy.
DISCOVER LORETTO’S NEW PRE-SCHOOL Loretto Pre-School will welcome children aged 3 to 5 from the start of the 2019/20 Academic Year. Fully integrated in the life of the whole School, Pre-Schoolers will benefit from Loretto’s first-class, all-round education, led by dedicated Pre-School teaching staff. Headmaster, Dr. Graham R. W. Hawley commented:
‘Loretto’s aim is to know and nurture children. With young children, especially, it is vital to build a close bond between families and the school, to give children the confidence to establish their character as individuals. Our new Pre- School environment embraces this personalised approach to learning, with small class sizes, and high quality, qualified teachers.’

remarked: ‘We believe that a structured, teacher-led, Pre- School provision can translate children’s natural curiosity into valuable learning and skills development from an early age. This will inspire in them a lifelong love of challenge and achievement.’
