10 YEARS OF
A child should have their eyes examined by an optometrist at least every two years from their pre- school year, or at any age from birth if you have any cause for concern. Here are some things to look out for: • Headaches and sore eyes - your child rubbing their eyes or temples.
• Difficulty concentrating e.g. on the smartboard at school.
• Losing their place when reading or complaining that the words seem wobbly.
• Having issues with coordination or perhaps they just seem a little clumsy.
• Squinting or closing one eye when reading or watching television.
• Eyes pointing in different directions which can be more obvious when they are tired. Showing sensitivity to light or the glare from a screen, or having very watery eyes.
If your child is due an eye examination or you have any concerns about their vision, book a free comprehensive eye examination by calling 0131 225 2235 or visit

A HEALTHY CHILD IS A HAPPY ONE!
Do you or your child have a constant cough/cold or suffer from asthma, eczema or allergies including hay fever? Why not give Edinburgh’s only Salt Room a try this year. It’s simple, effective and best of all drug free! Salt kills bacteria, it’s anti-inflammatory and helps break up mucus. It also removes airborne particles and toxins to improve the ability to cope with allergic reactions. Kids can have fun without even realising they are having any treatment! Whilst playing, they inhale dry, salt-enriched air deep into their lungs, clearing the airways and making breathing easier after just a few sessions. It can have a lasting effect on their health, boosting their immune system to prevent the frequent recurrence of their symptoms. Edinburgh Salt Rooms, Meadowbank, is open Tue-Sat. Please call 0131 297 5555 or email
