Anniversary for family-run firm

Duddeston-based hardware manufacturer Armac Martin is celebrating 90 successful years in business. Originally launched as

‘Armac’ in 1929 by local brass founder, Harold McGrail, the company has grown into a major name in luxury cabinet fittings across the UK and overseas. Since its re-brand as Armac

Martin in 2012, further investment across all areas of the business has allowed the company to thrive. The management team now

consists of Harold’s two grandsons, Paul and Mark, as well as Paul’s two sons, Robert and Richard, who each continue to drive the company forward. The family-run firm boasts a

complete in-house design and production team who are responsible for creating over 40 hardware collections, available in 21 expert finishes. To mark its 90th year in

business, Armac Martin has launched a new collection, with plans to branch out into new product lines within the Kitchen and Bathroom sectors later in the year.

The car of the future could help win the battle against superbugs – according to Jaguar Land Rover. Future models could help stop

the spread of colds and flu thanks to ultraviolet light technology (UV- C) borrowed from the medical industry, where it has been used for more than 70 years. By integrating UV-C, Jaguar

Land Rover believes it could help to stop bacteria and harmful viruses, known as pathogens, from surviving in the cabin. UV-C is widely used for

disinfecting water, filtering air and sterilising surfaces by utilising wavelengths of light between 200- 280 nanometres. Exposing pathogens to UV-C

within the air conditioning system breaks down the molecular

better utilise cars for administering preventative healthcare. “The implementation of individual wellbeing measures as part of our ‘tranquil sanctuary’ research promises to not only improve quality of life for our customers but in this case, offers clear advantages in reducing pathogen spread – protecting the overall population from the threat of disease; particularly as we move towards shared mobility solutions.” Immunology expert Dr Hellmut

Münch, chief executive at Medical Enzyme Research Association, said: “It is important that we continue

to take an innovative look at how we can adapt our environment to help prevent the spread of the most harmful pathogens – which is why this research is paramount.”

Grayson Thermal Systems, a global manufacturer and servicing provider, has agreed a partnership with vehicle product manufacturers Dometic UK. As part of the partnership,

Grayson Thermal Systems will provide installation, servicing, maintenance and sales services for Dometic, which manufactures and provide rooftop coolers, fridges, microwaves and inverters for a range of recreational vehicles. Grayson Thermal Systems, which

has offices in Tyseley, has provided cooling, air conditioning and heating systems on bus, coach, truck and specialist vehicles for over 40 years. Ian Hateley, aftermarket director
