Chamber duo named among city’s top young professionals

Two Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) members of staff have been named as top young professionals in Birmingham. Anna Assinder, manager of Future Faces, and

Henrietta Brealey, director of policy and strategic relationships at the GBCC, were named on BirminghamLive’s 30 under 30 list. The annual list highlights 30 enterprising and inspiring individuals under 30 living, working and making a difference in Birmingham. Ms Assinder manages the Chamber’s young

professionals arm, Future Faces, which helps young professionals develop, network with other young professionals and recognise outstanding future leaders.

‘At the Chamber we aim to create opportunities for and promote young talent’

Future Faces Chamber, now in its seventh

year, has doubled in size during the past year. Future Faces president, Mark Hipwell, was also

named on this year’s 30 under 30 list. Mr Hipwell is a pre-construction manager at

Laing O’Rourke and Murphy Group Joint Venture, which are one of three contractors for HS2’s enabling works. Ms Assinder said: “I am absolutely honoured

to be featured in BirminghamLive’s 30 under 30 list, alongside so many inspiring, engaged individuals in Birmingham. “I have always strived to champion local

businesses and their young professionals throughout my career and the list reflects an empowering group of likeminded individuals who are doing exactly that.

“I would also like to extend my

congratulations to colleague and friend Mark Hipwell, who is an enthusiastic and supportive president and outstanding young professional.” Ms Brealey oversees the Chamber’s top tier of membership, patronage, and a number of campaigning, research and stakeholder engagement activities. Ms Brealey and her team of four policy and

patron advisers compile economic business reports, conduct campaigns into business adaptability, leadership and people management. She was formally appointed to the GBCC board in 2018 aged 28, making her one of the youngest board members in the GBCC’s 206 year history. Ms Brealey said: “Being named as one of BirminghamLive’s 30 under 30 was a bit of a surprise, but a brilliant one. I’m particularly pleased to see Anna and Mark recognised

alongside lots of brilliant Brummies (and adopted Brummies). “I am incredibly passionate about this city, its

businesses and its youth and vibrancy. Initiatives, such as BirminghamLive’s 30 under 30 campaign, are a great way to recognise the fantastic work that this next generation of Birmingham leaders is already doing and helps demonstrate all that this city has to offer.” Paul Faulkner, chief executive officer at the

GBCC, said: “I’m really proud that Anna and Henrietta have been featured on BirminghamLive’s 30 under 30 list. At the Chamber we aim to create opportunities for and promote young talent in Greater Birmingham. Anna and Henrietta are two prime examples of two very talented individuals who have seized opportunities and grown as young professionals, and I feel very proud to work alongside.”
