Annual meeting celebrates Chamber’s year of growth

A ‘spectacular year of growth’ was toasted at the annual meeting of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). Qasim Majid, also managing director of digital

firm WowGroup, reflected on his first year as president at the event at Radisson Blu Hotel. The ABCC has grown by 13 per cent over the

past year, making it the second largest membership growth in the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) group, after the Future Faces Chamber. The Chamber aims to represent the Asian

business community across Greater Birmingham, and is the largest Chamber of its kind. Mr Majid spoke at the annual meeting about

the ABCC’s successes during the past year, and his reflections going into the second year of his tenure. He said: “My first year as president has flown

by, and I am filled with pride for everyone who has been involved with the ABCC. “The ABCC has experienced a spectacular year of growth, and has completed an incredible

amount of work supporting local businesses, banging the drum for diversity and extending networks. “The ABCC has been able to connect with new members and re-engage with longstanding ones, and even hosted its first social networking event. “Members can expect more of the same this

year, as I we strive to connect more members to opportunities and other businesses. “In my second year as president I want to

connect more with our younger members and businesses. “We live and work in the youngest city in

Europe, with the majority of our population being under 25 years old. “With this wealth of talented, young, hungry

to succeed individuals at our fingertips it is crucial to engage them with the ABCC in order to help them grow. “I am entering the next year of my tenure as

president full of optimism, enthusiasm and persistence to connect more, grow together, drive change and work hard for the members.”
