who have lost their husbands. This collection also contains “I am the Light- ning” from one my recent favorites, Willie Farmer whose latest album, The Man From the Hill was reviewed on my blog last month. This is such cool song. I was also happy to see Ironing Board Sam’s “Loose Diamonds” appear on this album too. His CD, Super Spirit, which this track is from, was one of my memorable finds in 2018 while visiting one of my favorite stores on the planet, Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art in Clarksdale, Missis- sippi.

Charlie Faye & The Fayettes The Whole Shebang (Bigger Better More) I can truthfully say that in the years since I first hear Charlie Faye’s debut album, I have never once
been disappointed in her audio output. With her “Fayettes” onboard, Charlie brings back everything we love about 1960’s pop music sounds. We are afforded the great opportu- nity of “turning back time,” and while these are all brand-new tunes penned by Charlie herself, they have that same vibe that those of us of a certain age immediately connect with- that same sound we recall coming from artists like Lulu, the Supremes, the Vandellas. . . “I Don’t Need No Baby” has enough
Phil Spector on it that if the year were 1965, it would smash through to the number one po- sition. Of course, the same could be said for most of the 12 tracks here. Dust off your go go boots and get ready to do the “swim” to the title track, “The Whole Shebang,” or the bouncy “Stone Cold Fox.” Get your slow groove on with the soul filled “Night People,” or “Tonight’s the Night,” but don’t get too laid back, “Tonight” doesn’t stay slow for long, and part-way into the tune you’ll be doing the Pony.
The Whole Shebang is guaranteed to put a smile on the face of 60-70 year olds
