bridge, and the loss of someone so close to you and a big part of the music you create has to take it toll. The stage was adorned with a bouquet of white roses right in front of the keyboard in honor of Kofi. Susan was on fire singing with all the

power and grace she is know for, but with a passion I had not seen before. It was as if the band was mourning theie loss the best way they knew how, through the music. With the release of a new studio record Signs, the band truly has a catalog of music to chose from, which is why so many people do multiple shows in a row since its never the same set on back to back nights. They played a wide selection with sev-

eral new songs thrown into the mix. I never thought for a minute that one of my favorite part of a rock concert would be the trombone solo, but that’s what Tedeschi Trucks brings out of you. Every player is a master of their craft and all part of the wheels of soul that is the Tedeschi Trucks band. Susan shares vocal duties with Mike

Mattison, with Mark Rivers and Alecia Chak- our singing some lead when not adding their touches on harmony singing. This band is the whole package and one of the best touring bands on the planet. The respect and confidence Derek has

in his band mates is obvious and, when he stepped aside and brought Marcus out to do one of the final encores with Susan, the re- spect he has for Marcus was on full display. Marcus and Susan tore into “Dont Think Twice (it’s Alright)” and had the crowd on their feet (who am I kidding? It’s a Tedeschi Trucks show, who was sitting?). The night ended with both bands on

stage and a killer version of “Show Me,” and at the end of the song Derek made his way over to the horn section which had doubled in size and did a few minutes of pure magic playing a few licks and prompting each one to take a responding solo. This went one for at least five rounds. Magic, I tell you. Just

magic. As someone else pointed out, if that music does not take you to church then you might just be dead already.
