write. That is until she met the owners of Joe’s Place, the coolest indie book store this side of the Mississippi. She was so taken by Mary, Alix and Becky after we discovered their small store on South Main Street in Greenville, SC, she decided to move from Spartan-

burg to Greenville to be closer to her new friends. As fate would have it, the owners were in

the process of moving from their rented retail space and into an old home downtown on Williams Street. The beautiful old house makes for an ideal book store and wine bar. KOFI BURBRIDGE Tedeschi Truckls Band

Multi-

instrumen- tralist Kofi Burbridge of the Tedeschi Trucks band died on Fw- beruary 15, 209 at the age of 57. He

died in Atlanta following complications from a cardiac issue which began in 2017.

Kofi was a skilled keyboard player and also

a master of the flute and with strong vocal skills. He came from a musical family, and his young brother Oteil was bassist for both the Aquarium Rescue Unit and the Allman Brothers Band. Prior to the Tedeschi Trucks band, Kofi

was a membe of the Aquarium Rescue Unit with his brother following the departure of Col. Bruce Hampton before joining the Derek Trucks band. When Derek and his wife Susan merged their two bands together, Kofi became an essential part of that group. His talent an kindness will be greatly

missed. -Michael Buffalo Smith 17

It’s a rich addition to the ever- evolving growth of Greenville, a city that is regu- larly featured in the media as one of the most desirable places to visit and/or live in the USA. As far as I know, the book is only available from Joe’s Place, but next time you are in there, check it out. It’s a nice piece of local history.
