Day two started like almost every day
does with a trip to the gym then a shower and some breakfast with Vicki. We missed the Gibson Guitar session with Greg Martin and the early show with Johnny Neel but found our way to the pool deck for a cruise T-shirt party with Preacher Stone. Again, I was blown away by the players on stage and can’t say enough great things about how tight and pol- ished this band is. I love seeing bands. Preacher Stone is one big break away from being a household name and on every one’s playlist. If you have not heard them check them out at
Preacherstone.com or on any so- cial media platforms. One thing this cruise does that I love is an All Access Pass live in- terview with each artist onboard. These events are held in the Spinnaker lounge and are hosted by a MC who uses questions from the audience. It’s a great way to learn about the artists and the songs we love. I made a point of making every one of these I enjoyed them so. Blackberry smoke was the first one, and if you signed up using “smoke fan” as your promo code you got a picture with the band at the end. We left there and headed to catch Brother Hawk on the pool deck for a great set. Having seen Brother Hawk opening for BBS, we knew their music and were not disappointed. One question I remember the MC asking every band was “who on the cruise they had not heard before, but liked.” Several bands listed Brother Hawk as that band. One last complaint about this cruise is there sim- ply was too much time with no music going on. You have a ship full of great artists! Let them play! Shoot, let them just do open jam sessions where it’s not one band, just differ- ent players playing together on the music we all love.
We left the Brother Hawk show for a
bite to eat before the All access with Marshall Tucker. Doug is a hoot, and him asking the MC questions was so funny. Doug has a way of talking and never answering a question that is crazy funny and to watch the MC at-

tempt to get a straight answer had tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard. We got a bite to eat, then headed to the main stage for our turn with Blackberry Smoke. We got in line early (as we always do) to secure our spot on the rail and Vicki is such a trooper not only had I dragged her all over the ship, never being patient enough to wait on an elevator, but she even rode the rail with me at this show because she knew this was my happy place. I love the conversations we have in the line and the people you meet, we met a pair of couples who had never seen Smoke before, but after hearing me brag and praise them, both couples followed me to the rail for a Smoking they won’t ever forget!
