Tedeschi Trucks Band Signs (Fantasy) The Tedeschi Trucks

Band is back with their fourth studio album,

and once again this collective talent manages to expand all known musical boundaries to create a funky, bluesy, rocking sound unheard of since the days of Delaney & Bonnie. Signs showcases the band at their best on eleven original tracks that run the gamut from soul- ful heart songs, to lovely ballads and hard driving rock and roll. As with past releases, Signs was recorded at Swamp Raga, Tedeschi and Trucks’ home studio in Jacksonville, Florida, on two-inch analog tape giving it a warmth and richness that evokes memories of the best vintage recordings. “Shame” rocks with a combination of

seventies R&B and hard rock, and Susan’s beautiful voice caresses every syllable on “All the World.” Of course that same beautiful voice sings the acoustic set closer, “The End- ing” with passion to spare. Trucks co-produced the album, along

with Bobby Tis and Jim Scott, known for his work with the Rolling Stones and Tom Petty. The 11-track LP also features guest appear- ances from guitarists Warren Haynes and Doyle Bramhall II, as well as Allman Brothers Band percussionist Marc Quinones.

Arlen Roth Tele Masters (Aquinnah Records) Guitar master Arlen Roth has done it again. He has

pulled together the cream of the crop of guitar pickers who are knowas masters of the Fender Telecaster, and you’d be hard pressed to find an album anywhere with more A-list guitar talent, unless it was Roth’s previous Slide Summit release. This album is a sheer joy for us fans of the Telecaster. Arlen teams up with our dear friend (and former Allman Brother) Jack Pearson for a searing “Key to the Highway,” after the hot instrumental opener “Reming- ton Ride” from Steve Wariner and Cindy Cashdollar. Roth rips up “White Lightnin” ac- companied by Steve “The Colonel” Cropper, and “Bunky” with the excellent Brad Paisley. It’s wall to wall talent with performances by Albert Lee (on a hot instrumental rendition of “Mrs. Robinson), Vince Gill, Will Ray, Brentr Mason, Redd Volkaert, Joe Bona- massa, Brent Mason, Bill Kirchen, Jerry Don- ahue, and Johnny Hiland. Tele Masters is exactly what the name implies, a showcase for the hottest guitar pickers working today, Good stuff,
