Overlooking the harbor in Cape May, The Lobster House has been a Jersey Shore fixture for more than four generations

Food&Drink

The sun, sand and sea breezes that have long attracted visitors to Cape May County also help to enrich the area soil and to culti- vate the region’s wine industry. From vine to wine, the region has earned bragging rights, won awards, and been touted as having the best wines this side of Napa Valley.

The region’s wineries offer something unique at every vineyard, including wine tasting rooms, events, tours and more. Follow the wine trail in Cape May County comprised of six wineries, two micro-breweries and one distillery, and savor the wines and origi- nal brews while enjoying the ambiance of each.

At The Reeds at Shelter Haven, the upscale yet casual Water Star Grille has become the hottest gathering place. Located directly on the bay - the view is spectacular. Also at the Reeds is SAX. Open year-round with a relaxed coastal vibe, SAX offers a delec- table everyday dining experience with eclectic fireside menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks.

Brewing just steps from Avalon’s beach, the Avalon Brew Pub in the new ICONA Avalon Hotel offers local craft brew favorites and gastropub dining with a twist in an upscale casual atmosphere.

At Harbor Burger Bar (HBB) and Harbor Square Theatre, foodies can celebrate the opening of the first gourmet burger bar on the Jersey Cape located in Stone Harbor. HBB brings an entirely new

dining concept and an upscale, yet comfortable, design to the resort’s food scene. Located at the entrance of the all new Harbor Burger Bar, patrons of the Harbor Square Theatre can lit- erally combine dinner and a movie.

The Mad Batter on Historic Jackson Street in Cape May, which is one of the town’s first fun and funky restaurants and started the resort’s culinary revolution, recently underwent a renovation. The popular, awning-shaded porch at the Mad Batter has transformed into a year-round venue with a new look and a total makeover. The vibe is fun, relaxing and laid back.

A third generation, family-owned Cape May Harbor restaurant and seafood company, The Lobster House - with its own com- mercial fishing fleet and market - is known for its fresh seafood served in a variety of settings and menus.
