Broadstone Neighbourhood Forum Update
If you haven’t caught up yet with the 7th June referendum on the Broadstone Neighbourhood Plan, the turnout was exceptional for a local referendum at 31.17% – which includes a 64% return of postal votes.
Overall, 2,643 votes were cast: 2,491 ‘Yes’ votes (94.54%) and 144 ‘No’ votes (5.46%). Thank you to everyone who made the effort to vote.
By the time you read this the Council should have ‘made’ (adopted) the Plan and incorporated it into the Local Plan. This means that the policies will be used to help determine future planning applications, and that The Green, Lytchett Drive will be specially protected as a Local Green Space. The Council’s decisions will be monitored regularly by the Forum and the information gained will help inform future revisions of the plan.
As announced at our Annual General Meeting in March, we are looking for Broadstone organisations to bid for small grants which we can make available from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). Guidelines and application forms can be requested by emailing
broadstoneneighbourhood@gmail.com but do remember any proposal must contribute to an improvement in the local infrastructure and quality

Following our AGM, we reported the headline outcomes from the workshop which encouraged residents to evaluate a number of suggestions for improving pedestrian, cycle and vehicle access and connectivity within the central area of Broadstone. The exercise was very successful, providing valuable information which helped us establish a number of key principles to incorporate into a Masterplan. We now need to ensure these principles remain valid across a wider range of residents, so we will be repeating the exercise during the Family Fun Day (Sunday July 1st) and on at least one other occasion later in the year. We will also provide an opportunity to respond to the suggestions via our website:
broadstoneneighbourhood.uk though this is unlikely to be available until early August.
