Broadstone Middle School, Age 9-13 Broadstone Middle fundraiser for

Julia’s House

At Broadstone Middle, we feel it is vitally important that our pupils understand the challenges that are faced every day by those less fortunate than themselves, whether it be through sickness or disability. We know that life is uncertain and that community spirit is very important if we are to shape our pupils into becoming responsible citizens for the future.

Recently, we were very pleased and proud to be able to invite Julia’s House in during our celebration assembly to collect a very large donation (and very large cheque!) which was raised thanks to donations from our Fun Run, which took place earlier in the year. The children learnt more about how Julia’s House uses the donations, which included funding trampolines in the ground that can be used by children who are in wheelchairs, and to support and provide time out for parents who are full time carers for their children. A whopping £3,119.62 was raised

as BMS students ran,

walked, skipped, etc

around a 5k course

based on our school fi eld and heathland beyond. Everyone at school (including the adults) took part in the Fun Run and, although it was a challenge, it was worth it to be able to donate such a fantastic amount of money.
