This month we have been concentrating on meeting Objective 3 Plastic Free Community by contacting the Broadstone schools.
The children at Springdale First School
celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June by learning all about plastic pollution. Activities included making posters promoting the three ‘Rs’, and reusing plastic bottles to create planters and a variety of
imaginative art pieces. Key Stage
Two children also
considered the plastic
usage in our school and the local community and wrote some very passionate letters to Michael Gove explaining their fi ndings and concerns.
Broadstone Christian Nursery has banned glitter, plastic cotton buds and plastic straws. They are investigating plastic-free alternatives to these and wipes. The children do regular litter picks in the vicinity of the nursery.
For our second Plastic Free Community Event we will have a stand at the Broadstone Family Fun Day on 1st July. Come and visit us to see a range of plastic-free
alternatives to everyday items and to collect your individual action plans, helping you reduce your personal plastic footprint.
