Broadstone Youth Club


As we reach the end of the academic year, the volunteer team at the youth club is looking forward to a few weeks off and preparing for the next year.


We have averaged over 110 young people attending the club each week, and have enjoyed a number of new volunteers – including some young people using the experience for their Duke of Edinburgh’s volunteering module.


I want to thank every one of the volunteers who give their time freely and the organisations who have supported us with sessions on cyber safety, alcohol and drug awareness, coding, safeguarding and bullying. We are planning sessions for next year and would love to hear from anyone who has a particular skill they can share with the young people – ideally something that can be delivered over a 3-4 week period, so the young people can learn a new skill.


Some ideas we already have include Poole Rocks painting workshops, bike maintenance, fitness, boxing, cooking, etc, but we would love to hear


from anyone who is willing to offer their services.


We would also love to hear from new volunteers – someone to cover the tuck shop, sport supervisors and general volunteers to simply engage with the young people. Full training will be provided, so experience is not necessary, just a good sense of humour and a happy disposition.


We are also still looking for a new Treasurer, so if you have a background in bookkeeping or accounts please get in touch, as this is needed for a September start.


Full details of the programme from September will be listed in the August Link and will be provided to Broadstone Middle School, Corfe Hills, Poole Grammar and Parkstone Grammar School, but children from any school are very welcome.
