Broadstone Neighbourhood Forum Update
Broadstone Neighbourhood Plan Referendum: Thursday 7th June 7am to 10pm
What is the Broadstone Neighbourhood Plan? It is a set of policies, developed in response to consultations with residents, which protect open spaces, wildlife corridors and promote biodiversity; manage new housing developments and aspire to achieve high quality design; promote economic vitality in the central area and protect community facilities for the benefi t of Broadstone residents.
Why a referendum? This is a legal
requirement and is the last stage in the development of a
Neighbourhood Plan. It gives residents a fi nal say on shaping their community.
Who can vote in the referendum?
Everyone who lives within the plan area and was on the electoral register by the 21st May is entitled to vote. If you are not on the electoral register you cannot vote.
Where do I vote?
There are two polling stations for this referendum. One in the Leisure Centre, Station Approach and one in the Methodist Church, Macaulay Road. You should have received a polling card telling you which polling station to go to. Make sure you check carefully.
to use Broadstone Neighbourhood Plan policies when approving or rejecting planning applications in Broadstone, thus giving residents a say in managing Broadstone’s future.
What does a ‘No’ vote mean? The opportunity to infl uence how Broadstone develops through the planning process will be lost. All planning decisions will be made centrally without any reference to what Broadstone residents have said they want.
The opportunity is there on Thursday 7th June to make your voice heard and help shape Broadstone’s future. Don’t waste it.
