He also flew the Museum’s P.1127 XP984 and made the first flight of our Harrier two-seat demonstra- tor G-VTOL in 1971. Retiring from test flying in 1978, he became Deputy Director of the SBAC, including its Farnborough Air Show, displayed a Hurricane and other types for the Strathallan Collection, served as Master of the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators in 2002, actively supported aviation museums at both Brooklands and Tangmere, and more recently co-founded the Historic Aircraft Association with his keen interest in air safety.

Duncan passed away on 7th December aged 89 and various detailed obituaries have since appeared in Aeroplane, The Daily Telegraph and other media. A private memorial service for family and close friends was held on 5th January close to Duncan's former home at St Martha-on-the- Hill near Guildford and a public celebration of his remarkable life will take place at the RAF Church of St Clement Danes in London on 24th April. Many of us were privileged to have known these four remarkable gentlemen who willingly devoted considerable time and expertise over many years in helping us to develop and expand the Museum into the successful visitor attraction it is today, and we all remain indebted to them.
