circuit, and there were no other driving standards issues. How the timekeepers managed with so many trikes on track was a miracle; but they were able to keep up with it as, even with the light fading, we continued the race into the dusk. A sunset time of 3.57pm was irrelevant as there was no sun, just heavy grey cloud shedding little light by this time. The chequered flag came down at 4.01pm; 30 laps and five miles on top of the other 40 or so laps that most had done over the course of the day. Our new boys from Octane and The Automobile magazines had survived the
proceedings and were on fire, with exhilarating performances. Two more converts. We await their reports with interest.
Finally the Paddock was buzzing with con- gratulations all round, as just to have been part of the day’s proceedings would be memorable for a very long time. To have brought racing back to Brooklands, in such an historic format, made this a unique occasion, long to be savoured in the memory.
