Update
Hillman Aero Minx Streamliner We are extremely grateful to Dr George Bailey OBE for converting the loan of his 1934 Hillman Aero Minx Streamliner to a donation. This beau- tiful two-tone grey car has been a popular feature at the Museum since 2011. It is an example of a type of car raced at Brooklands by amateur drivers in Junior Car Club and Motor Cycling Club races. Although not built as racing machines, they brought their owners premier awards and first prizes. This Streamliner has a 1,185cc four-cylin- der side-valve engine and a body built by Northampton coach-builders Arthur Mulliner.
Newspaper cutting about crash of Joseph Paul’s Delage
Many thanks to Amanda Suttie for the donation of an interesting newspaper cutting from 1938. The article, by Tommy Wisdom the famous motor racing journalist and husband of racing driver Elsie ‘Bill’ Wisdom, tells how Raymond Mays alerted Joseph Paul’s mechanic to a petrol leak just five seconds too late to avert the disaster which resulted in the death of a spectator. Men- tioning a number of well-known Brooklands rac- ers and featuring contemporary photographs, the article highlights the inherent danger involved with racing activities at Brooklands.
Eric Alliott’s sheepskin flying gauntlets We are very pleased to have added to the collec- tion a pair of sheepskin flying gauntlets worn by Eric Alliott, a Brooklands Flying Club instructor
