The complete model – it also included four model cars.
The Clubhouse is a separate assembly.
available from an on-line retailer known as
www.diecasts.biz/bargains This model seems to have been sponsored or authorised by the Museum (its name is on the packaging). I presume it would have been marketed at that time by the Museum? Or was it distributed through other channels, eg the Brooklands Society (which still existed separately from the Museum at that time). Our friends from the USA report: ‘The kit had no picture of the completed display and very little in the way of instructions. Four model cars were included. The kit was printed on four or five 10 by 20-inch cards. The individual pieces were scored to be separated and assembled by inserting numbered tabs into corresponding slots (not a chore for the fumble-fingered). The Clubhouse is a separate assembly from the Test Hill and banked Track piece.’
I note that this kit is no longer available
through the current Museum Shop. I presume the Museum Collections may have a copy of the model, but any additional information would certainly be of interest to our friends in California, and to the MG Car Club and the T-Register (and probably the Triple Ms and the Vintage registers as well).

Museum Commercial Director Valerie Mills responds: I can tell you exactly where the Brooklands model came from. To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Brooklands Race Track in 1992 Kelloggs Cornflakes ran an offer on the back of packets for people to collect tokens and, for a modest sum, the cardboard model and four Lledo cars could be obtained.

There was even a television advertisement to publi- cise the offer. The Museum Shop sold these models for some years afterwards, but now the stock has gone, although we do, of course, have examples in the Collection. They still come up on Ebay from time to time.
Classic cars wanted Dear Diana,
I am a new volunteer at the Museum with my main interest being cars. I am also a long- standing volunteer with the Guildford Lions Club and for the last 50 years we have held an Easter Fayre in Shalford Park and usually had a good turnout of classic cars (50 to 100). This year’s is on April 2. I’m sure Brooklands will have its own events that weekend, but if any readers are not otherwise committed they could take their car our show, details on
