Beagle B206X move on 30th November (Julian Temple).

need doing around our large site. Anyone who feels able to help us with this work on a regular basis – even if only for a few hours – is urged to contact myself or Lee Harvey for more information.

Heritage work

On 30th November Beagle B206X G-ARRM was temporarily relocated by Andy Lambert, Mike Lynn, Gary Savage and Martin Strick to the Vimy Pavilion so that reassembly work can continue over the winter. This move required our 1/10th scale model of Concorde to go outside briefly – offering a rare photo opportunity to see G-BBDG with her miniature ‘off-spring’ posed alongside! Although the Beagle will go back outside soon, its former parking area where the Wellington Pavilion stood until last summer was improved and landscaped from 3rd-11th January by Room-Scope Ltd contractor Nick Cox. In the aftermath of the Aircraft Factory opening in November, Estates and Heritage staff and volunteers have been kept busy over the winter

helping deal with the inevitable ‘snags’ found and unforeseen refinements required as everybody gets used to our two new major exhibition build- ings. The Flight Shed’s ground floor workshop is laid out as required by our engineering and train- ing staff with just a few final adjustments still to be made, although this excellent new facility is al- ready being used regularly for training courses and exhibition conservation work. Tidying up and improving the Factory’s imme- diate surroundings and other nearby areas, including the Finishing Straight, Vimy Pavilion, Stratosphere Chamber, Acoustics Building and A V Roe Shed remains on-going but hopefully visi- tors can at last notice the difference in many areas of the site – and an even better way to appreciate all of the recent changes is to view the results of Andy Lambert’s latest drone video camera survey of the deserted Museum site, which was made during the Christmas shutdown on Saturday 23rd December – see www.andysvideo.com
