Green Business


There is no doubt that human activity has had a large impact on the planet and the natural environment, which we must not forget we rely on for those things critical to our own health and well- being and life in general – air, water and food. We see the impacts at both a


global level, temperatures have risen, there has been an increase in intensity of climate related weather events, and as highlighted by David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II, by 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish. At a local level, last year, Birmingham was given a final warning by the EU, to tackle the lethal levels of air pollution, which kills over 500 people each year, which is set to increase to over 1000 if nothing is done. While these challenges should not be tackled by a single Government or NGO alone, it should be recognised that business has a role to play in managing such issues.
