Start-ups don’t have to walk on eggshells


A Chamber scheme to help new entrepreneurs make a go of their fledgling businesses is going from strength-to-strength, helped in part by the various mentors who are taking part. Among these is Birmingham-


based marketing agency Eggshell Solutions, founded 13 years ago by Arnold Bailey and Robert Boulter. Eggshell offers a full range of


services ranging from design, print, web design, SEO, digital marketing, promotional products and video production; with a focus on start- up and SME businesses. Mr Boulter and Mr Bailey, who


believe that start-ups are the ‘vital, entrepreneurial life blood of the UK economy’, have been delivering a series of marketing workshops for the Chamber to help new companies. The workshops cover the A-Z of


marketing techniques, with particular reference to how start-up businesses can use a wide variety of approaches to ensure that new ventures maximize their marketing effectiveness. Eggshell is well placed to offer


advice to start-ups - Mr Boulter has held senior roles with some of the largest UK print companies, including packaging, high security print (passports), transactional print and direct marketing. He is a strong believer in only


the highest possible levels of customer service. Having started

his own business, he appreciates the difficulties faced by business owners and is always happy to pass on advice and tips. Fellow director Mr Bailey has


held a variety of senior marketing roles, primarily within the automotive sector, including such well-known brands as Peugeot and Daimler Chrysler. He said that the experience of


launching and growing Eggshell has provided him with a great understanding of the marketing challenges faced by SME businesses. He said: “Today, with a huge


range of techniques available, marketing can sometimes seem a daunting area for new and growing businesses. That’s why we’re delighted to be working with the Chamber of Commerce Growth Hub. “Our aim is to de-mystify the


whole process and help SME businesses find the best way to market themselves.” Anabela Ferreira, head of new
