INDUSTRY NEWS SPECIALIST TAKES UP
HONORARY ROLE Nick Armstrong has been appointed Honorary Secretary of the British Geotechnical Association (BGA)
The BGA specialises in the application of soil mechanics, rock mechanics and geology to engineering, instigating discussion on industry issues and providing technical seminars and input to training development. As well as consulting on industry standards and contributing to peer-reviewed publications, the association is influential in the international ground engineering arena.
Having joined the BGA as a member last year, Mr Armstrong was appointed following interview and recommendation to the executive committee.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE He brings 40 years’ professional experience to the three-year role,
including 25 years working on innovative and leading edge ground investigation projects with Fugro.
Mr Armstrong joined Fugro in 1992 as a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, moving up to Engineering and Reporting Manager in 2015. His current responsibilities include the technical execution and delivery of drilling and ground investigation projects in the UK and Europe, together with team management, technical quality, and skills development.
