As part of its fully-integrated range of services, James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) has an outstanding track record of unexploded ordnance (UXO). Pioneering UXO detection, identification and disposal techniques have recently been utilised on two significant energy construction projects, Hinkley Point C nuclear power station developed by EDF Energy and Galloper Windfarm, a 353MW offshore windfarm project led by innogy SE.
WINDFARM LOCATION
The 353MW Galloper Windfarm lies approximately 30km off the east coast of Suffolk, England and is currently nearing full power generation. This area is subject to some of the most dense subsea munitions on the UK continental shelf, mostly confirmed as Allied and German air-and-sea-delivered WWII ordnance.
When the project needed emergency subsea UXO services, JFMS was able to mobilise quickly from its new base located in Lowestoft, Suffolk. Consequently,
