PROFILE – ANTONY LEWIS, BUSINESS MANAGER AT OMPA
Job overview – I’m responsible for the team’s provision personnel and the delivery of training to the onshore and offshore industries. My focus is to oversee the continued success of OMPA, through hard work and a steadfast commitment to support the Life of Opportunity – in doing so we ensure that people and clients get the best possible service results.
Why is training so important? – Through training we ensure that our workforce have the key skills and
knowledge to exceed. This is vital to both the client and training candidate as this is what ensures work is completed to the correct standard but also it ensures that we can be 100% confident in the ability of our people.
How do our clients benefit? – OMPA want to set and drive standards for training to ensure that our people build on their knowledge to become a key asset not only to us but to our clients. A key benefit to clients when taking to us about training is that we have a resource of knowledgeable and experienced trainers who can support and deliver a wide and varying range of training, be it operational, introductory, technical or internal.
How has the industry changed in recent years? – There is a big focus on renewable energy, but the subsidy is declining while the demand
increases. As an industry provider we need to ensure that we can meet and support supply chain demands by identifying and resolving issues to ensure quality at every stage. The key to this is people, knowledge, experience and understanding.
What is the future for the renewables industry? – Big demand, higher voltage, bigger steps towards less of a dependence of fossil fuels. We’re all now starting to understand the impact our lives are having on the planet, so there will be more pressure to address these issues and renewables has a big role to play in this.
