ALS offer a range of wood chip, play bark and nuggets. Whether you’re looking to create an attractive decorative landscape, safe cushioned playground, or even a mix of both, we have the materials to suit your need. Many products are available in 75 L bags and larger bulk bags as well as 10 to 85 cubic metre loose loads.


Ornamental Bark


This product can be supplied as either a mixed conifer, redwood or pine in a variety of particle sizes depending on your specifications i.e. 5-35 mm/10-50 mm. Ideal for the more prestigious landscape projects.


Play Bark


Our Play Barks all conform to BS EN 1177: 1998 industry play standards and are available in pine or redwood varieties and particle sizes ranging from 18-35 mm to 10-50 mm. Provides a safe impacting surface ideal for any play areas.


Play Chip


Our Play Chips all conform to BS EN 1177: 1998 industry play standards and are available in softwood or hardwood grades with particle sizes ranging from 5-40 mm to 8-40 mm. Ideal for high movement play areas.


Contractor Bark


Our Contractor Bark is a versatile medium grade bark mulch, ideal for a range of applications including large projects that require a more economic bark mulch. General particle sizes range from 1-65 mm/1-70 mm.


Path Chip


Path Chip is a softwood chip, ideal for hard wearing walk surfaces, access paths and bridleways. Particle size range of 5-50 mm.


Bark Nuggets


The Bark Nuggets are produced from a blend of douglas fir, larch and some scots pine. Ideal for prestigious landscape projects that require an attractive visual appearance. Particle size range of 15-65 mm.


Tree and Shrub Planting Compost


A non-peat based compost consisting of a blend of recycled green waste and fine composted bark to produce a crumbly open compost suitable for professional landscapers. The neutral pH makes this compost ideal for all landscape schemes, except for acid loving plants that require a low pH to thrive.

Mushroom Compost


Supplied fresh from the mushroom farm, this is an excellent soil conditioner and economic to use on a large scale. It will improve the structure of heavy clay soils and add humus to thin sandy or chalky soils. Being steam sterilised before leaving the mushroom farm ensures it is weed and disease free.
