For the record parking is not allowed on any grass area along the main road. It is unsightly and causes damage to the grass which the Parish Council spends your money on maintaining. Further, 2000 daffodil bulbs have been planted on these grass areas by a team of volunteers led by Moira Holden which will be ruined by this thoughtless behaviour of few a handful of car owners. We have even had reports that someone has been using one of the grass areas as a location to sell cars. All of this activity has been reported to the relevant authorities for action.

Neighbourhood Plan There was a strong turn out for the first of our public consultations on the future of our village for the next 20 years. People were encouraged to leave comments on a number of issues relating to future housing development, infrastructure, heritage and public open space. Nearly 90 people came along and a lot of useful comments were collected. Every single one has been collated and will form part of the process in producing our Neighbourhood Plan.

One early straw poll taken was where people thought that any significant future housing development should take place if and when it is approved by Broadland District Council. There are two sites that have been offered in BDC’s “call for land” for future housing. In Wroxham this amounts to a proposal by Hopkins Homes for a further 350 homes on the elbow of land from The Avenue to Salhouse Road.

The second is by Wroxham Football Club who apparently wish to leave their current ground in Skinners Lane on which they would like to build around 20 homes and move to another village. These two proposals along with hundreds more in Broadland will go out to public consultation in January.

A third option for the future, though not in the “call for land” list is for Hopkins to build a further 100 homes immediately due south of their existing Wherry Gardens Development. From the straw poll taken at the consultation most people who expressed a preference opted for the southern extension of Wherry Gardens and some also supported the Wroxham Football Club site. It is clear from all dialogue the Parish Council has had with BDC that Wroxham is most likely too be asked to take another 100 homes in the relatively near future so where a sizeable development should take place is obviously a key concern for the Neighbourhood Plan team.
